Swiss roll (Jelly roll) is a cake baked in a sheet with a filling, and is rolled over. You can use any desired filling of your choice and that may include fruit puree, chocolate ganache, fruit jam or whipped cream. This can be served with a cup of tea as breakfast.
- 100 grams of Caster Sugar
- 100 grams of Flour
- 4 Eggs
Procedures for Baking Swiss Rolls
Prepare your sheet pan by greasing it with a little vegetable oil, and placing your parchment paper or brown paper over the sheet pan and set aside.
Prepare your caster sugar. Using a food processor blend some granulated sugar to get a smooth white powdered sugar (caster sugar).
Break eggs in a mixing bowl , and add caster sugar and beat with an electric hand mixer till its thick, pale in color.
Sieve flour over the mixture and Fold in using a Spatula gently till it is well incorporated .
Pour batter into the prepared sheet pan and put it into an oven. Allow to bake on a low-medium heat for about 15 -20 mins. You know your cake is ready when you insert a fork or knife in the and it comes out clean
When your sponge cake is baked, before it cools off completely, spread the desired fillings you want and roll it over. allow to set then you can cut and serve.
