Who says there is sin in taking care of oneself? Of course, no one would say that because after stressful days, months, or years of working all around, running errands, taking care of your man and the kids, or studying, taking care of yourself through SPA is one of the most beautiful and relaxing things you can do for yourself.
I’ve seen different movies where ladies go to the SPA and I can’t help but marvel at “God when”, because I’ve read the fee of a big salon who owns a SPA in my salon and I’ve realized if I spend that much on a SPA Day at this age, I should be spanked.
I know the same can be said of someone reading this and that is why I have found out what we could do to solve this issue as well as enjoy ourselves alongside other women out there, then after researching far and wide, all I could pen down for you was this: How to Have A Spa Day at Home!
In this article, I’ll be working you through 12 easy steps to have your spa at home, easy peasy!
1. Set Your Stage
If you have a bathtub in your house, fill it with water in the right quantity, if you don’t have it, then improvise with any other thing. Dim the bathroom lights and lit your candles, before this, you must have gotten yourself into a good bathrobe, pour yourself a glass of wine, juice, or tea. Get your mp3 close to you and play a cool music
2. Spike Your Bath
To your bath (water), add bath salts, essential oils, and other things such as bath oils, bubbles, beads, bath bombs, etc
If you’d love to moisturize your skin, you can add almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, milk, or oatmeal. Anyone within your reach.
3. Facial Exfoliation
This is into various ways, here we have
For this, you need a lip balm or a DIY lip balm which is made using 2 teaspoons of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of honey. Mix well, then apply on your lips to remove every dry skin cell. Apply in a small but circular motion and wipe off with a clean, wet, and warm towel. You can apply a lip balm after this.
Here, you need small boiled water mixed with any essential oil, bow your face 7-10 inches away from the water, let the warm steam open up your pores as specks of dirt are removed and blood are circulated.
This is the most interesting part I look forward to trying. All you need to do is to get a cucumber or tea bag from the market. Slice your cucumber into 2 thin slices, leave in your freezer to refrigerate, then place this ok your closed eyelids. This same method goes for the teabags.
This makes you look refreshed and get rid of every puffiness and sleep bag. Your SPA Day is incomplete without this.
4. Face Mask
You need a face mask to give your face a smooth and baby look. This can be improvised with any household recipe which includes;
- 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of olive oil mixed for dry skin,
- 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 smashed banana for regular skin,
- 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon I cosmetic clay for oily skin.
These ingredients can be used according to your skin type. Apply on your face for 15 minutes, then wash off.
5. Hair Mask
This is not compulsory, but if you would like to give it a trial, you need 2-3 egg whites, 4 tablespoons of Aloe vera, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil, adequately mix.
Apply to wet and clean hair, leave for about 15-20 minutes then wash off with cold water. This adds shine to your hair and helps regulate your scalp.

6. Skin Exfoliation
This should be done by using any body scrub. After which your skin must be dried with a towel, apply your body lotion and clothe yourself in your bathrobe.
You can make a skin scrub by yourself at home, all you need is ½cup of coffee grounds, ½ cup of granulated white sugar, and ¼ cup of olive oil. Mix and use as your body scrub.
7. Skin Mask
You should get yourself a skin mask before your bath, although you can easily make your mud mask with an ½ cup of cosmetic clay mixed with water to get a thick paste. This you can rub on your legs, arms, lips, torso, etc to be rinsed off in the bathe.
This gives your skin a smooth look.
8. Manicure and pedicure
Your nails should not be left out of all of this process, so you can make a manicure cream by yourself by mixing ¼ teaspoon of lemon juice, ½ teaspoon of olive oil, and 2 teaspoons of petroleum jelly. This helped moisturize your cuticles as well as deal with dry and cracked skin.
9. Foot Mask
What is the essence of a SPA Day when your foot is left out?
For this, get an olive or vegetable oil with any comfortable socks. Apply this oil to your foot, slip into your socks, then moisturize your face with cream before bed. This foot mask leaves your skin soft.
