Hello dear, I will be sharing with you a very easy recipe on Red Velvet cake (butter recipe). If you haven’t seen our Vanilla Cake Recipe and Orange Cake Recipe then we encourage you do that first before going through this.
Follow this simple instructions to make a fluffy red velvet cake for your family today.
Ingredients for Red Velvet Cake
- 113g of Unsalted butter
- 2 Tablespoon of Cocoa powder
- 300g of Sugar
- 250g of All purpose flour
- 1 cup of Buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 Tablespoons of Red food coloring
- 1 Tablespoon of vinegar
- 1/2(half) Tablespoon of Salt
Now that we know the ingredients we need, let’s look at the procedures for making Orange Cakes
Prepare your baking pan by spraying with a non-sticky spray and applying your parchment paper. Alternatively you can use the oil or butter method as explained in my vanilla cake recipe.
Into your mixing bowl, put in your butter and mix till it is really soft and light.
Into step 2 add your sugar and mix properly till the mixture is light and fluffy.
Add your eggs next into step 3, putting one egg at a time and mixing properly before adding the next one.
Pour in your vanilla extract into the mixture (step 4) and mix till it is well combined.
In a separate bowl, sieve in your flour, add cocoa powder and baking powder and whisk together to get all dry ingredients well combined.
Into a measuring cup or a medium size bowl, whisk your buttermilk and red food coloring.
With the mixer on a low speed, alternate the mixture and buttermilk into step 4 (your butter, sugar and egg mixture) in three addition, beginning with your flour and ending with your flour, i.e. pour a small portion of step 6 into your butter mixture and mix, then add half portion of step 7 and mix.(repeat process again ensuring you end with some last portion of the dry ingredients.
Put into a small cup the baking soda, quickly pour in the vinegar into it to form a fizz (a foaming reaction). Fold the mixture quickly into the cake batter.
Immediately pour the cake batter into your prepared baking pan and bake for about 25- 30 minutes.
Note: Your cake is ready when a tooth pick is dug in the center and it comes out dry.
For the benefit of those who can’t buttermilk,you can create your own by adding 1 Tablespoon of white vinegar into your liquid milk (1 cup).
