Hello dear, today we are looking at recipes for Orange Cake. If you haven’t seen our Vanilla Cake Recipe, then we encourage you do that first before going through this.
This fluffy Orange Cake made with fresh orange juice and orange zest gives it that perfect amount of orange flavor. When done, you can completely cover the cake with frosting for a traditional cake or if you love the look of a naked cake, just do a nice “crumb coat” on the outside of the cake. This makes a beautiful naked orange cake!
That said let’s get started…
Orange Cake Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 192g sugar
- 320g flour
- 1Tsp of baking powder
- 1Tsp of orange zest
- 1 cup of fresh orange juice
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 1tsp of vanilla extract
Now that we know the ingredients we need, let’s look at the procedures for making Orange Cakes
Step 1
Prepare your pan,by greasing the pan with either butter and sprinkle some flour on it,remove the excess flour or use the other method as explained in Vanilla Cake Recipe.
Step 2
Into a large steel bowl,prepare your wet ingredients by adding your eggs (all of it),then add the sugar and the vanilla extract.Mix every thing together with the use of an electric hand mixer.
Step 3
Into step 2 add your fresh orange juice and mix
Step 4
Into step 3 add your vegetable oil and your orange zest and mix.
Step 5
In a separate bowl, sieve in your flour,and add the baking powder to it and give it a nice stir with a spatula.
Step 6
Add your dry ingredients in 2 faction into your wet ingredients and mix (pour half of your dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix).
Step 7
Pour in your cake batter into the cake pan.
Please note,your oven must be preheated before putting in your cake pan,and for those using the pot method of baking preheat the pot of sand or stone as well before putting in your pan.
Step 8
Bake for 19-21 minutes, depending on the size of pan used. To test if the cakes are done, insert a toothpick in the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cakes are done. Let cool for 15 minutes before removing from pans.
