Unlike palazzo pants which are full-length pants. A culottes’ pants can be worn basically everywhere depending on how it’s rocked. Culottes were first worn by aristocrats, sportswomen and military men then later became fashionable in the 21st century.

There are a thousand and one ways to style culottes but 5 types of tops have been compiled to give you a classy look, after all, style is a way to say who you are without having to speak- Rachel Zoe.
1. A turtleneck top:
Turtleneck tops are tops with high round necks. Just as the name implies, they are tops that are way up to the neck, covering both the front and back areas of the neck. To style this with culottes pants, choose a turtle neck top with a matching colour of your culottes’ pants. This outfit can be worn on different outings. For a casual outing, you can rock it with a sneaker or flat wear. For a professional outing, probably to your workplace or business meetings, it can be styled by using a suit jacket on it with any high heel of your choice.
Make sure you have your turtleneck top tucked into your pants for a better fit while giving it a professional look. As casual wear, it can either be tucked in or out depending on your mood. Either way, you get a unique and classy look. A leather jacket can also be used with boots, black lace-up boots or any boots of your choice on culottes’ pants with a turtleneck top. Your turtleneck top can also be in form of a fitted crop top which can as well be worn on heels.
2. A plain or patterned shirt:
Shirts are a type of garment majorly made from cotton. The versatility of shirts is what makes them unique. Shirts can be worn virtually on anything, on skirts, variations of trousers and shorts and definitely on culottes’ pants. A plain coloured shirt can be worn on plain or patterned culottes whereas, a patterned shirt with lots of colours shouldn’t be worn on patterned culottes’ pants with many colours, you wouldn’t want to look like rainbow right?
You can wear any variation of the shirt on culottes pants, whether it is a tee-shirt, a V-neck shirt or a round neck shirt. This outfit can also be worn for different outings. For a casual outing, a loose t-shirt on a culottes’ with sneakers or any flat wear of your choice would do the magic. For a professional look, then a fitted tucked-in shirt on culottes pants worn on heels or boots would do the magic. Rock this with a matching bag and accessories.
3. Culottes Pants with Cold shoulder top:
If you are the type that doesn’t like so much skin revealed but don’t also like so many close-ups like the turtle neck top, then this is a go-to top for you because it only reveals your shoulder part. Cold shoulder tops have sleeves as well as necklines but they reveal just a part of your shoulder. It is a type of off-the-shoulder top but with a slight difference.
Cold shoulder became more popular around 2010 but it has been in existence since the 50s and 60s. A cold shoulder top can be worn on a culottes pants individually as a two-piece fabric or can be sewn together as a one-piece fabric referred to as a cold shoulder jumpsuit, as well. So if you prefer to have your outfit as a single piece with a culottes’ pant on, go for the jumpsuit.
4. Off-the-shoulder top:
As the name implies, these are tops that are usually off the shoulder level. An off-the-shoulder top reveals the neck and your shoulder in which the depth varies. The difference between a cold shoulder top and an off-shoulder top Is that a cold shoulder top has a cut out at the shoulder area, meaning, it reveals just the shoulders, unlike the off-the-shoulder top which reveals all of the shoulder levels.
Looking for a chic look? An off-the-shoulder fitted top on a culottes’ would do the trick. The off-the-shoulder top on culottes can be in form of a jumpsuit as well, it can be a fitted/ loosed off-the-shoulder crop top depending on your taste. It can be worn on dates, casual hangouts with friends, birthday parties as well.
